Ajahn Jayanto: Discussion & Meditation in the Thai Forest Tradition

  • Wisdom's Heart 2 Duncan Street Gloucester, MA, 01930 United States

"If you have time to breath, you have time to meditate.
You breath when you walk.
You breath when you stand.
You breath when you lie down."

-Ajahn Chah, Meditation master of Theravada Buddhism

Wisdom's Heart warmly welcomes Ajahn Jayanto, the abbot of Temple Forest Monastery.  Temple Forest Monastery is part of a worldwide monastic community associated with the great Theravada Buddhist meditation master Ajahn Chah of the Thai forest tradition.

The Thai Forest tradition is the branch of Theravada Buddhism in Thailand that most strictly holds the original monastic rules of discipline laid down by the Buddha. The Forest tradition also most strongly emphasizes meditative practice.  Living a life of austerity allows forest monastics to simplify and refine the mind. This refinement allows them to clearly and directly explore the fundamental causes of suffering within their heart and to inwardly cultivate the path leading toward freedom from suffering and supreme happiness.
