The Three-Step Dance of Turning Concepts into Realizations.
The key to traveling the path leading to the fully awakened mind of a buddha is the fundamental meditative skill that transforms conceptual descriptions of the path into experiential realization.
The first class of this two-part series takes a close look at how Tibetan lamrim meditations ingeniously lead a meditator to alternate awareness and attention in a three-step process that leads to the direct realization of each step along the path. The path is “developed” as a sequence of realizations, each of which forms the necessary foundation for the next. We’ll glance at the entire path but apply that three-step dance specifically to the liberating stage that realizes how the experience of self is constructed.
This second class of this two-part series explores the “Discovery Model” of Tibetan Buddhism. The three steps of this dance again alternate awareness and attention but through the practices of Shamatha/Vipashyana/Mahamudra to discover the nature of the mind that we already have: nonconceptual, luminous, and blissful.
